Day 1: Welcome to Tanzania

Your guide/driver will pick you from Kilimanjaro International Airport and drop you at your lodge.

Day 2A: Lake Manyara National park

Go out of the park on a drive to  “Mto wa Mbu” village for a cultural tour that involves moving around this farming community as you tour through farms, schools, churches, markets and with 18,000 locals who have diverse cultures from 120 tribes. Visit the wood workshops where the Skilled Makonde carpenters carve wooden intricate household items, masks, and figurines. Enter the local markets and put your haggling skills to use especially when buying vegetables, fruits, meat and spices in their stalls.

Day 2B: Tarangire national park

Start your morning with a game drive in this park. It is well known for its large herds of elephants which gather at the Tarangire River to drink. For birders, there are about more than 500 bird species to watch. This park is the only place in Tanzania where you can spot gerenuk and oryx, outside the Serengeti it has the largest wildlife population.

Day 3: The Serengeti drive

Visit the Serengeti national park since its one of the tour highlights. With the most extensive wild game population on earth with a pure undisturbed ecosystem. The Serengeti has three sections; the North (Lobo area), South (Seronera valley) and the West corridor. The great wildebeest migration can be seen in the North area which is one of the most fascinating natural events worldwide. You can now return to your hotel for the evening.

Day 4: The search for the Migration

Today is for a full day safari where the guide will allow you to, while in the vehicle, go close to the animals for photo opportunities. Let us do an early morning drive when most predators have just woken up and are up for hunting Now you will go deeper into the Serengeti in search of the wildebeest to experience one of the ‘7 wonders of the world’. Wildebeest, zebras, elands and Thompson’s gazelles make this 800 km journey every year spontaneously based mainly on each year’s rain pattern though it’s currently affected by global climate change. Predators like lions, hyenas, cheetahs, leopards anticipate this annual migration because prey choice is plenty. *In December and start of January it is hard to predict the migration location; whether it is on the Serengeti or Ngorongoro side of the park. This will affect your accommodation option.

Day 5: Game driving in the Serengeti Park

Today is dedicated to the migration adventure. Watch the hungry predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards follow the migratory animals to feed themselves.

Day 6: Last Day in the Serengeti

Today’s morning game drive will be as you drive out of the park towards the Ngorongoro crater for an afternoon game drive. Within the crater, you will see cheetahs, jackals, Thompson’s gazelle, flamingo, and uniquely the Big 5; lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinos, leopards. As well as for those who enjoy birding as an activity, there are around 400 bird species to add your drive.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater drive safari

Descend into the crater through the highland forest and when on the crater floor, home to 30000 animals, view those grazing and those on the hunt. Depending on the month of travel, you may see flamingos around Lake Magadi shores while hippos are in the swamp nearby.

Day 8: Travel to Arusha

Tour the city.

Optional activity; Ngorongoro highland walks

Guided by an armed ranger enter this scenic area that combines culture and wildlife together on this amazing landscape. See volcanoes, forests, craters all in one place and encounter the Masai people who inhabit the area’s highlands.

Day 9: Departure

Depending on what time your international flight out of the local airport is, you can take part in an optional activity to end the safari.

If you don’t want to end your tour, inform your AA Safaris tour consultant to book you another tour in another destination in Africa.

As soon as you arrive in this lodge you feel the enthusiasm and personal attention of the German owners. The lodge – built on an old coffee plantation - has a large entrance with different places to relax and to have dinner. Escarpment Luxury Lodge
This beautiful lodge is situated on the rift Escarpment on the edge of Lake Manyara N.P. The spacious cottages have an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and outdoor shower! This lodge has a swimmingpool as well. A spreading deck surrounding the main lodge affords you breathtaking views of the lake and the gorge upon which the lodge perches watch pelican sweep the skies as you take sundowners, see the sun slip like a segment of orange into the hills and listen to the sounds of Africa nestle up to you as night slides in.
Eco Science Luxury Lodge
Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp
Located in a scenic glade known as ‘the place of the klipspringer' (mbuzi mawe), this luxury tented camp is uniquely and cleverly placed at the very epicenter of the Serengeti. The sixteen large custom-made canvas tents are widely spaced throughout the rocky glades of the camp. Reached by winding stone paths, each tent stands on a stone platform and has its own thatched roof. Opening off the spacious bedroom, is a tented bathroom, which features twin basins, shower and flushed WC. The main bedroom area features two queen-sized four-poster beds, each with all encompassing mosquito nets.
Lake Masek Tented Camp
This is an exclusive luxury tented camp overlooking Lake Masek in Ndutu, between the vast plains of the Serengeti National Park and the northwest side of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The camp is eco-friendly as all the electric power is supplied by solar panels and water is collected during the rainy season. All the products used are biodegradable in order to ensure that the environment is kept pristine
