Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Road Trip to Murchison Falls National Park Day 2: Wildlife Drive and Launch Cruise

Upon your arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be greeted by an AA Safari guide who will take you on a drive through the lively town of Entebbe, known for its beaches along the shores of Lake Victoria, popular hangout spots, and shops. You’ll then continue on the express highway, heading northwest past the famous Luwero Triangle. Along the way, you’ll make a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to trek rhinos in this protected conservation area for a couple of hours. Please remember to bring insect repellent, long pants, and closed shoes for this activity. After lunch, you’ll set off to Murchison Falls National Park, where you’ll have dinner and spend the night at a nearby hotel.

The next morning, you’ll wake up early for a game drive within the park, where you can expect to see four of the Big Five animals – elephants, buffalos, lions, and leopards – as well as giraffes, antelopes, and a variety of bird species. After lunch, you’ll go on a launch cruise along the Great River Nile, where you’ll spot both water birds and animals that spend time in or near the water, such as crocodiles, hippos, and kobs.

Day 3: Travel to Kibale National Park Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Start your day with a morning meal before embarking on a drive to Kibale National Park, stopping for lunch along the way. As you pass through the evergreen vegetation and simple district trading centers, you’ll have the chance to admire the beautiful scenery.

Once you arrive at the park, you’ll wake up early for a briefing at the park headquarters before setting off on a well-maintained path into the forest to see chimpanzees. Kibale National Forest is home to the highest number of primate species in East Africa, so you may see more than just chimpanzees during your visit to the tropical forest. After lunch, you’ll continue your road trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park, going on a game drive along the way where you’ll have the chance to spot tree-climbing lions, buffalos, and elephants. When you reach your lodge, you can check in and have lunch before heading to the Kazinga Channel for a boat ride. Here, you’ll be treated to a cool breeze and the chance to see the animals and birds enjoying the coolness of the water. Spend the evening relaxing at your lodge in anticipation of the next day’s sights to add to your Uganda safari memories.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Accommodation: Kyaninga Lodge
Day 5: Road travel to the Bwindi impenetrable national park and Game drive/Day 8: Mountain Gorilla trekking

After a hot breakfast, you’ll begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, using the Ishasha route. Here, you’ll have the chance to see the tree-climbing lions that are unique to this part of Uganda. Observe these magnificent creatures as they climb onto fig tree branches, hunt for food, play, and protect their own. In the evening, you’ll check into your hotel for dinner and rest.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is the best place to see mountain gorillas in Uganda, as the park is home to 50% of the world’s total gorilla population. This trekking experience will surely exceed your expectations. After a briefing at the park headquarters, you’ll set off into the forest with a packed lunch in your tour vehicle. This tracking activity can take most of the day, so be sure to wear light, covering clothing and closed shoes, as well as gloves to protect your hands from thorny bushes and slippery walkways. Watch as the gorillas play with each other, hunt for fruits and insects on the ground, and sit together as the day goes by. You’ll see mothers breastfeeding their young and observe the leadership skills of the silverback. Remember to remain silent and at least 6 meters away from the gorillas, and refrain from using flash photography or mimicking their noises. At the end of the day, retire to your hotel to rest and reflect on your beautiful encounter with the mountain gorillas.
