Katonga Wildlife Reserve is a protected area located in the southwestern part of Uganda, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. It covers an area of about 312 square kilometers and is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including elephants, chimpanzees, lions, leopards, antelopes, and a variety of bird species. The reserve is situated along the Katonga River, which provides an important water source for the animals that live there.

The reserve was established in 1997 to protect the wildlife and habitats of the region, and to provide opportunities for ecotourism and scientific research. It is managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and is open to visitors year-round. Visitors to the reserve can take guided safari tours, go bird watching, or participate in community-based conservation initiatives.

The Katonga wildlife reserve is an important area of conservation, not only for the unique wildlife it protects but also for the benefits it brings to the local communities.
