Itinerary

Days 1 and 2: Arrival in Zanzibar and Discovering the Culture of Stone Town

Upon your arrival at the Zanzibar International Airport, you will be greeted by a representative from the Tembo House hotel and transferred to the hotel for a two-night stay. Located just a 5-minute drive from the Zanzibar port and 8 km from the airport, the hotel is conveniently located for exploring the island.

On your first day, you will join a guided tour of Stone Town, a World Heritage site designated by UNESCO in 2000. This historic part of Zanzibar City on Ungula Island was once the capital of the Sultanate and a thriving center for the trade of spices and slaves.

Today, it is a vibrant and cultural hub, with narrow passageways, ancient coral stone buildings, and huge carved wooden doors that tell the story of the island’s history. Follow your guide through the winding streets of Stone Town and learn about the unique blend of Arab, European, Persian, and Indian cultures that influenced the architecture and culture of the area. Don’t forget to take photos of the stunning doors, each one a unique work of art with its own meaning and significance.

After your tour, return to the hotel for lunch and the rest of the day is free to relax or participate in additional activities at your own expense.
