On the first day of your gorilla trekking safari in Uganda, an AA Safaris tour guide will drive you from Entebbe/Kampala to the Gorilla Sanctuary of Bwindi National Park. You will have lunch en-route and arrive at your selected lodge in the evening, where you can either relax in preparation for the day-long gorilla trek the next day or take a self-guided walk around the hotel.
The following morning, you will have an early breakfast at 5:30 am and then depart with your safari guide to the park headquarters for a briefing by the park ranger guides. You will then begin the gorilla trek in the steep, densely forested, and beautiful landscape of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The park’s evergreen vegetation is very thick due to the frequent rains throughout the year. The true meaning of gorilla trekking is felt when you encounter these giant but gentle mountain gorillas. It is an amazing experience to watch them feed, rest, and play, and to see mothers with babies and acrobatic youths. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife experience! After the trek, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving late and checking in for dinner and a rest for the night.
