Day 1 - 2: Queen Elizabeth National Park, lion tracking and boat cruise

AA Safaris tours for Queen Elizabeth National Park allow you to enjoy every minute of your arrival day right from the first encounter with one of their guides at the airport pickup with a warm Uganda welcome.  To the point when you are returned to the airport for your flight back home.

Your tour will start at the airport where the guide/driver will drive you through the town of Entebbe where you will enjoy Lake Victoria breeze, see the shores of the lake as you pass beaches by the roadside then get onto the newly constructed highway that gets you into the capital city of Uganda in record time of 10 minutes.

Start the trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park for 5-6 hours, stop at the equator for a photo opportunity and a souvenir shopping at the nearby arts and crafts shops. Arrive at your preferred accommodation and check in, have lunch and prepare for an evening game drive where you will see most of the animals as they prepare to rest for the night.

Arise to a morning game drive where you track the tree climbing lions as they wake up, hunt and lie lazy on in the savannah. Study and watch other animals during the drive like carvel cats, leopards, hippos, buffaloes, kobs, elephants to mention but a few. Return to your lodge for brunch then head to explore kazinga channel on a boat cruise to see different bird species and wild game drinking water, bathing and grazing by the shores. Take beautiful photos from the boat as you bypass the shores. Retire to your lodge for dinner and sleep

Day 3 - 4: Chimpanzee trekking, Mountain gorilla tracking at Bwindi impenetrable park

Awake to a healthy meal and go chimpanzee trekking at Kyambura gorge where you will be fascinated by the scenery of a cave made out of thickly dense trees that form a cave like feature which is the gorge that is home to chimpanzees. After a briefing by your guide, start the trekking which lasts 2-7 hours. Wear appropriately for the trek; hiking boots and a walking stick because the ground may be muddy and slippery, thick gloves and long pants to protect your hands and legs from thorny plants along the trail. Start the drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park where you will spend the night

Be driven after a heavy breakfast to the trekking assembly point where you will be briefed, divided into groups, meet your guide and start the mountain gorilla trek. Wear appropriately for the trek; hiking boots and a walking stick because the ground may be muddy and slippery, thick gloves and long pants to protect your hands and legs from thorny plants along the trail. Remember not to feed the gorillas, mimic the sounds they make or use flash photography when taking photos of the beautiful gorillas. Stay hydrated during the trek.

Visit the local community outside the park especially the Batwa rich culture expressed in arts and crafts, music, dance, folk-stories.

Return to your lodge content having learnt a new way of life of the locals

Days 5 - 7: nature walk along River Munyaga, Horseback game ride and guided nature walk in Lake Mburo National Park

A guided nature walk along Munyaga River will let you see birds and wild game. Then travel to Lake Mburo National Park.

Have an early morning horseback game ride which is unique to this park since its the smallest park in Uganda. Ride alongside herds of zebras, antelopes, buffaloes as they run for exercise and race to the shores of Lake Mburo to quench early morning thirst. While at the shore, watch as other animals like hippos, crocodiles. Wildlife in this park include; the impala, hippos, zebras, giraffes, leopards, hyenas, lions, sitatunga, bohor reed-buck. Have brunch then head for a canoe ride on the lake as birders enjoy watching some birds, relax on the smooth sail or join in on the rowing while in the canoe. Sit on the lake in quiet contemplation of the silent beauty around you before rowing to another part of the lake.

Have a nature walk this morning in lake Mburo where you will see the salt lick. You might see some small birds or animals at the salt lick. Then go for a boat ride to see where Lake Mburo joins 13 other lakes and watch the birds as they sit on the water.

Day 8: Return to Kampala/ Entebbe

Along your drive back to Kampala/Entebbe, stop at one of the towns for a quick shopping then be dropped off at the airport or your chosen departure point.

Mihingo Lodge
An infinity pool overlooks the valley below where buffalo, eland, impala, warthogs, bush buck and zebra can be seen at the waterhole. On the rocks you may have the rare chance of seeing the resident family of Klipspringers. We cannot guarantee that you will see a leopard, but on a night game drive you do have a good chance. As Rungwe Kingdon (the son of the well-known wildlife author, Jonathan Kingdon, and one of Mihingo’s guests) once told us “I have seen more leopards in Lake Mburo National Park than any other park in East Africa”.
