A representative from AA Safaris will be at Entebbe International Airport to greet you and escort you to your hotel in Kampala. After a long flight, take some time to rest and explore the vibrant city of Entebbe before retiring for the night.
Today, you’ll begin your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of the most scenic parks in Uganda. With a combination of bushland, savannah plains, forests, and wetlands, the park is home to an abundance of wildlife and bird species. The highlight of the park is the Kazinga Channel which flows through the park, connecting Lake George and Lake Edward, and providing a vast water source for the park’s inhabitants. The park is also known for having one of the largest concentrations of hippos in the world. After arriving at the park, you will have some time to rest before embarking on an evening game drive to explore the park and spot the various wildlife and bird species that call it home.
Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before setting out for a chimpanzee trekking experience in the Kyambura gorge, a geological feature home to a variety of primates such as vervet monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, and red-tailed monkeys. After the trek, enjoy an afternoon boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, where you can see crocodiles, hippos, and buffaloes up close as they cool off in the water. Afterwards, return to your lodge at Mweya Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Today, you’ll start your day with an early morning game drive in the savannah land of Queen Elizabeth National Park to see the park’s inhabitants such as elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, kobs, antelopes, and if you’re lucky, you may also spot the tree-climbing lion in Chambura gorge. After your game drive, you’ll head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. If time permits, you may take a community visit on the outskirts of the Bwindi forest to see the local way of life, participate in arts and crafts, buy souvenirs, and have lunch before checking in to your lodge for the evening.
Rise early and enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on your mountain gorilla tracking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Your AA Safaris guide will take you to the park headquarters for a briefing on the trekking experience, including guidelines on what to expect, and proper behavior while in the presence of the gorillas. You will then set out on a well-maintained trail through the dense Bwindi forest in search of one of the park’s 13 mountain gorilla families. Once the family is located, you will be guided to a safe distance of 6 meters where you can sit and observe the gorillas in their natural habitat. Watch as they go about their daily routines, feeding, playing, and grooming each other. Remember to refrain from making loud noises or using flash photography, and never try to feed the gorillas. Pack a lunch and be sure to stay hydrated throughout the day, as the trek can be physically demanding.
Start your day with an early breakfast before embarking on a journey to the Uganda-Rwanda border, making sure that all your travel documents are in order. As you travel through the mountainous landscape of Rwanda, enjoy the stunning scenery as you make your way to Volcanoes National Park. Here, you will check in to your lodge for the evening and spend time exploring the park, which is home to mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, spotted hyenas, bushbuck, and black-fronted duiker.
Rise early for a hearty breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing before embarking on the unforgettable Gorilla trekking adventure in the Volcanoes National Park. Guided by an experienced park ranger, you will hike through the rugged terrain to reach the gorillas’ habitat, where you will have the opportunity to observe these majestic primates in their natural environment. Take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains as you trek, and enjoy a picnic lunch while observing the gorillas. After the trek, return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest and reflection on the unique experience.
This morning, set off early to track the playful Golden Monkeys in their natural habitat. Enjoy observing them as they move through the lush vegetation of the national park. Afterwards, return to Kigali and check into a hotel for the night. If time permits, take the opportunity to explore the city and immerse yourself in the local culture. This will be the end of the great tour with AA Safaris.
