Itinerary

Day 1: Take off from Entebbe Airport to Kihihi Airport and Drive to Lake Mburo National Park

Begin your journey with a warm welcome from an Arrive Africa Safaris tour guide as you exit the airport terminal. You will be escorted to your chartered private plane, located either at Entebbe airport or Kajjansi airstrip, for the flight to Kihihi airport. After arriving at Kihihi airport, take a short drive to Lake Mburo National Park where you will check-in at your lodge and head out for a horseback ride game drive and walking safari. Experience the park’s diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes from a new perspective, as you explore the park on horseback and on foot.

Day 2: Exploring the Great Outdoors: Road Trip from Lake Mburo to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Embark on a scenic road trip from Lake Mburo to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, make a stop at Lake Mutanda where you can paddle around in a traditional wooden dugout canoe. Take a refreshing swim, but be aware that it is the deepest lake in Uganda and the second deepest in Africa, so this activity is recommended for strong swimmers only. Your AA Safaris guide can also arrange for a delicious lunch of fried Tilapia fish as you relax by the lake.

Day 3: Discovering the Gorillas and Batwa Culture: Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Begin your day early and head to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting off on your gorilla tracking experience. A guide will lead you on well-maintained trails in the Bwindi forest as you search for the designated gorilla family to track. Once found, you will have the opportunity to observe these majestic creatures from a safe distance of 6 meters, as they go about their daily activities such as feeding, playing, grooming, and communicating. The duration of the tracking experience can range from 1-6 hours or more, depending on the behavior of the gorilla family. Remember to abide by the guidelines of no flash photography, no feeding the animals, and no mimicking their sounds.

After a possible late lunch, embark on a cultural tour to visit the Batwa pygmies of the forest. Experience their traditional dances, songs and folklore about the Bwindi forest that is their home. Take a look at their cultural memorabilia and purchase arts and crafts as a souvenir.

Day 4: Tracking the King of the Jungle: Lion Expedition at Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, set off on a drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and take the Ishasha route to track the tree-climbing lions. Observe these majestic cats as they climb up fig tree branches and relax, and learn about their hunting habits. Afterwards, continue on to your lodge for the evening.

Day 5-6: Exploring the Wild: Game Drive and Boat Safari/ Chimpanzee Trekking

Spend the morning on a game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park and witness the wild savannah come to life. Observe elephants, buffalos, warthogs, hyenas, and more as they move from their sleeping places to hunting and grazing grounds.

After lunch, embark on a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel and see the local wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, elephants, kobs, and buffalos as they come to drink from the shores. This is also an opportunity for birders to spot various bird species.

In the afternoon, journey to Kyambura gorge for a chimpanzee trekking experience. Discover these wild apes as they live deep in the rainforest and see the birds that reside near the gorge. Additionally, you may also encounter other primates such as baboons, white colobus monkeys, and vervet monkeys.

Day 7-8: Journey to Murchison Falls National Park for Game Drive and Hot Air Balloon Adventure

Travel to Murchison Falls National Park and experience the beauty of the landscape, including the Victoria Nile running through the park, green savannah lands, and diverse wildlife.

While on a scenic road trip to Murchison Falls National Park where the Victoria Nile runs through and forms the falls that pour through a narrow creek. Along the way, stop to admire the district town centers, street vendors, lush vegetation and tea plantations.

Once at the park, go for an early morning game drive to catch a glimpse of the wild as they wake up for the day. With the guidance of an experienced game ranger, explore the nesting places of some of the Big 5 animals such as lions, elephants, leopards, and buffalos.

In the afternoon, experience the thrill of a hot air balloon ride over the park. Soar above the Victoria Nile, green savannah land, and watch as the animals move about below. Afterwards, enjoy a champagne bush breakfast and if desired, a white water rafting adventure can be arranged as well.

Day 9: Departure from Murchison Falls National Park to Entebbe International Airport

On the last day of your luxury safari, you will be driven to Pakuba airport for your flight back to Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi airstrip.
