Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and road trip to Murchison Falls national park/Day 2: A wildlife drive and launch cruise

Receive a warm Uganda welcome from an AA Safari guide at Entebbe airport and drive through the lively town of Entebbe filled with beaches by Lake Victoria’s shores, hangout places, and shops till onto the express highway then continue North West past the famous Luwero Triangle. Stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to trek rhinos in this protected conservation area for a couple of hours. It is a must for all those interested in rhino trekking to have insect repellent, long pants, and closed shoes. After lunch, set off to Murchison Falls national park and at a hotel nearby is where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Awake for a morning game drive within the park. Be expectant to see four of the Big Five animals here; elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards. You will also see giraffes, antelopes, various bird species. After lunch, go for a launch cruise on the Great River Nile where you will spot both water birds and animals that spend time in and by the water that is crocodiles, hippos, kobs.

Day 3: Travel to Kibale national park/Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have a morning meal before driving to Kibale national park with lunch en-route. Admire the evergreen vegetation and simple district trading centers you will pass through to get to your destination.

Wake up early for the drive to the park headquarters for the morning briefing before you start journeying down the well-maintained paths leading into the forest area where you will see chimpanzees. Kibale national forest harbors the highest number of primate species in East Africa so expect to see more than chimpanzees in the tropical forest. After lunch, continue on a road trip to Queen Elizabeth national park however, as you drive to the park you will go on a game drive where you will see tree-climbing lions, buffalos, elephants. Then reach your lodge for check-in and lunch. Head to Kazinga Channel for a boat ride which will expose you to a cool breeze and the animals and birds that are at the shores enjoying that coolness in and beside the water as well. Spend the evening relaxing at your lodge in anticipation of the next day’s sights to add to your Uganda safari memories.

Day 5: Road travel to the Bwindi impenetrable national park and Game drive/Day 8: Mountain Gorilla trekking

Start the trip to Bwindi impenetrable national park after a hot breakfast. When approaching the national park, using the Ishasha rote, Here, you will see the tree-climbing lions that can only be found in this part of Uganda. Watch the lion of the jungle climb onto a fig tree branch, hunt for a meal, play, feed and protect their own. In the evening, check in to your hotel for dinner and rest.

The Bwindi impenetrable forest is the best place to see the mountain gorillas in Uganda because the mountain apes have risen in number and contribute 50% of the world’s total gorilla population. This trekking experience will supersede your expectations. With a packed lunch in the tour vehicle, attend a briefing at the park headquarters then go into the forest to see these strong ape relatives of humans. This tracking activity can keep you busy for most of the day. Remember, Wear light covering clothes plus closed shoes, gloves because you will be moving through trails that may have thorny bushes, steep slopes, slippery walk paths. View the beautiful gorillas play with each other, hunt for fruits and insects on the ground, sitting communally as the day goes by, mothers breastfeed their young, how they move, leadership skills of the silverback. Remember to try to be silent so as not to startle the gorillas, no flash photography at or near them, no mimicking their noises nor should you feed them. Stay at least 6 meters from the gorillas. Now retire for an evening to rest your feet and let the beautiful encounter with the mountain gorillas sink in.
